ABOUT apmaTEC
The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) division, apmaTEC (Technical Enhancement Center) is a Canadian-based organization responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the AVIN/APMA Demonstration Zone Project in Stratford, Ontario. Our objective is to support Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), with the demonstration of their connected/autonomous technology, in a fleet of 20 vehicles (Sedans, CUVs, SUVs, Transit Buses and Utility Trucks), to global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 and 2 parts manufacturers, multinational enterprises (MNE) and other potential customers.

About the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA)
The APMA is Canada’s national association representing OEM producers of parts, equipment, tools, supplies, advanced technology, and services for the worldwide automotive industry.
The Association was founded in 1952 and its members account for 90% of independent parts production in Canada.
The Association’s fundamental objective is to promote the Original Equipment (O.E.) automotive supply manufacturing industry both domestically and internationally.
The Association provides important representation to both Federal and Provincial Governments, supports regional government initiatives and creates and executes global marketing initiatives in order to develop trade and business opportunities for the membership. In addition to advocacy, the APMA also provides its members business development solutions as well as guidance and assistance on modernizing their operations to suite the needs of Industry 4.0.

Demonstration Zone (DZ)
The AVIN Technology Demonstration Zone, located in Stratford, Ontario, is a site where Ontario-based companies with Connected and Automated Vehicle (C/AV) technologies can test, validate and showcase innovative products to potential customers and partners such as automotive suppliers manufacturers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in a controlled environment and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations using vehicle platforms such as city buses, fleet vehicles, and vehicles.
The apmaTEC, a division of the Automotive Parts Manufacturer’s Association (APMA) will lead the Demonstration Zone on behalf of AVIN. The Demonstration Zone will position Ontario as a globally-recognized C/AV and infrastructure jurisdiction.
The Demonstration Zone promotes a customer-centered and demand-driven approach to the commercialization of innovation in Ontario and provides Ontario-based companies with a competitive development option. These activities will also strengthen Canada as a region for foreign investment opportunities. Initial vehicles at the Demonstration Zone will be showcasing connected vehicle and infrastructure technologies. Later, vehicles will have automated driving features and capabilities to showcase various types of technologies.
In addition to the vehicle fleet, the Demonstration Zone will leverage Stratford’s existing connected infrastructure comprised of ubiquitous Wi-Fi that covers the city’s entire 12-square kilometers that is reinforced by a high-speed broadband network and LTE.

The Regional Technology Development Sites (RTDSs) include the creation of locations that enable Ontario-based small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop, prototype, and validate new technologies, access specialized equipment (hardware and software), and obtain business and technical advice.
